Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 6, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains what information AbShred collects, how we use it and the choices you have. It applies to the AbShred: AI Ab Maxxer iOS app, the web version at app.abshred.com and this website at abshred.com (together, the “Service”).
The Service is operated by AbShred ([Legal entity name and address]) (“AbShred,” “we,” “us”). If you have any questions, email support@abshred.com.
1. The short version
- Your scan photos are analyzed and then discarded. We don't store them.
- We keep your scan scores so you can track progress. Your profile answers and workout history stay on your phone.
- We don't sell your data, we don't run ads and we don't track you across other apps.
- You can delete your account and all of its data in the app at any time.
2. Who can use AbShred
AbShred is for adults 18 and over. The scan is age-gated and users under 18 cannot scan. The Service is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has given us information, email support@abshred.com and we will delete it.
3. Information we collect
Your account
When you first open the app, we create an anonymous account for you using Supabase Authentication. You don't need to give us your name or email to use the app. You can optionally add an email address to save your account so you can sign in again; we verify it with a 6-digit code sent to that address.
Profile answers
During onboarding we ask for: your first name (optional, up to 30 characters), your goal, gender, age range, how many days a week you train and what equipment you have. We use these to personalize your plan and coaching. These answers are stored on your device, not on our servers.
Scan photos
To score your abs, you take photos of your torso. Before anything is uploaded, the app checks the photo for blur and brightness on your device. The photo is then sent over an encrypted HTTPS connection to our server, which passes it to Anthropic's Claude API for analysis. Once the analysis is returned, the photo is discarded.
AbShred does not store your scan photos. We never use them for advertising and we never sell them. Anthropic processes the photos as our service provider under its commercial terms, which do not use API inputs to train its models by default.
Scan results
We store the results of each scan: your overall score, an estimated body-fat range, six zone scores, your weakest zone, a short coaching note, the name of the AI model used and the date and time of the scan.
Workout logs
The workouts you complete are stored on your device so the app can show your history and progress. They are not uploaded to our servers.
Purchases
Subscriptions are bought through Apple In-App Purchase. We use RevenueCat to manage subscription status. RevenueCat receives an anonymous app user ID and your purchase and receipt information from Apple. Apple handles payment, and AbShred never sees your card details.
Product analytics
We use PostHog to understand how the app is used. We send app usage events such as onboarding steps and answers (such as your goal), scan completed (with your overall score and weakest zone), paywall viewed, purchase and workout completed. These events are linked to your anonymous account ID. We do not send photos, email addresses or anything you type as free text to analytics.
Website and waitlist
This website also uses PostHog for analytics, such as page views and button taps, and stores campaign (UTM) parameters like utm_source that tell us where you came from. If you join the waitlist, we store your email address together with those UTM parameters.
4. How we use your information
- To provide the Service: create your account, analyze scans, build your plan and show your progress.
- To manage your subscription and restore purchases.
- To understand and improve the app and website through product analytics.
- To email you about the launch if you joined the waitlist.
- To respond to support requests and keep the Service secure.
5. Where your data is stored and how it's protected
Your account (an anonymous ID and, if you add one, your email) and your scan results are stored in a Supabase database hosted through Lovable Cloud. Access is protected by row-level security, which means each account can only read and write its own data. Data is sent over encrypted connections. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information.
6. Who we share data with
We share data only with service providers that help us run AbShred:
- Supabase (via Lovable Cloud): authentication, database and server hosting.
- Anthropic: analysis of scan photos through the Claude API.
- RevenueCat: subscription management.
- Apple: payments, subscriptions and the App Store rating prompt.
- PostHog: product analytics for the app and website.
We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect our rights or users' safety, or as part of a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, in which case this policy will continue to apply.
We do not sell your personal information and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. The app contains no advertising SDKs and does not track you across other companies' apps or websites.
7. Notifications and ratings
AbShred uses local notifications only, scheduled on your device: a weekly rescan reminder and reminders on your workout days. We don't send marketing push notifications. You can turn notifications off at any time in iOS Settings. When we ask for a rating, we use Apple's built-in App Store rating prompt.
8. How long we keep data
We keep your account data for as long as your account exists, and delete it when you delete your account. Scan photos are not kept at all. Waitlist emails are kept until our launch communications end, or until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them.
9. Deleting your account
In the app, go to Profile → Delete account. This deletes your account and all associated data from our servers, and clears the data stored on your device. You can also email support@abshred.com and we will delete it for you. Deleting your account does not cancel an Apple subscription; cancel that in your Apple ID settings.
10. Your rights
You can ask to access, correct, delete or get a portable copy of your personal information by emailing support@abshred.com. We may need to confirm the request comes from you. We will not treat you differently for exercising your rights.
EEA and UK users
We process your information on these legal bases: to perform our contract with you (to provide the Service), our legitimate interests (to secure and improve the Service through analytics), and your consent where required. Where we rely on consent, you can withdraw it at any time. You also have the right to object to or restrict certain processing and to complain to your local data protection authority. Your information is processed in the United States; where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses for these transfers.
California residents
Under the CCPA/CPRA, you have the right to know what personal information we collect, use and disclose; to delete it; to correct it; and to opt out of its sale or sharing. We collect the categories described in section 3 (identifiers such as an anonymous user ID and optional email, commercial information about purchases, internet activity in the form of app and website usage events, and the profile and scan information you provide) for the purposes in section 4. We do not sell or share personal information, and we do not use sensitive personal information to infer characteristics about you. To make a request, email support@abshred.com. You may use an authorized agent.
11. Health information disclaimer
Scores and body-fat ranges are AI estimates for fitness motivation only. They are not medical advice or a diagnosis, and they are not a medical or body-composition measurement. Consult a doctor or qualified professional before starting an exercise program.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We'll change the date at the top, and if the changes are significant we'll let you know in the app or by email if you've given us one.
